In this edition of The Creative Classroom, Mark Pentleton is working with a group of children who have recently started learning Spanish. The children are using GarageBand to practise their listening and speaking, firstly through an re-ordering exercise based on a prerecorded conversation, and then by recording their own voices as part of the conversation. Techniques covered include:
- using two tracks to record each part of a conversation, providing more flexibility for follow-up work;
- cropping sound regions in order to ‘mix up’ the conversation;
- muting individual tracks and recording parts of the conversation;
- using filters to change the pupils’ voices.
